Internet marketing update

It’s been a while since I last posted on this website - I’ve been pretty busy concentrating on my clickbank experiment which is going very slowly, but hey - it’s going! I’ve made a few sales now, and it seems that when I least expect it, I see another sale!

I’ve also been working on my dedicated web development website. I now have more clients, and am yet to pay for specific advertising, so I am pretty happy with how things are going there! I have recently joined some business networking associations and once I get my business cards, I’ll be able to do a little more of what I enjoy doing - building websites and teaching others how to do it!

In fact, I have a client due here in 5 minutes so I can teach her how to add and modify content on her website, so I’d better go!

Theme 2 - This theme is easy to configure and the featured part of the page (top left) allows you to select four different featured articles, products or stories. This theme allows for advertising, video, or you can even add in a photo gallery slideshow. This has an opt in box, using an RSS feed.

Theme 3 - This theme is very photo-friendly! As you can see, there are photos down the left hand side and even thumbnails down the middle of the page. On the right you can add video and even Google ads.

Theme 4 - Believe it or not, this is the theme I am using for this website. This theme allows you to add a featured article with image, there is room for advertising space (I have my opt in form in this space), and plenty of space to show article snippets.

Theme 5 - This theme is very similar to Theme 3, but has a slightly different layout.

Theme 6 - If you’re a fan of Flickr, then this theme is for you! This site links direct to your Flickr account, showing specific images as set by you! This site is obviously very photo-friendly and should definitely capture your visitor’s attention.

Theme 7 - This theme has a very corporate look (well, it would if I had used different images!) and is image friendly too.

What are you getting for your money?

Do you want to know what you’re getting for your money when you purchase a product or service?

Do you compare prices before purchasing a product or service?

Many people just go out and see what they want and just buy it. Others will compare before they purchase.

I personally think you should compare prices when having a website built, especially when you’re paying out larger sums of money. What are you getting for your money? More importantly, how much ongoing support will you receive after your purchase?

I’ve put together a few of the questions I would ask someone if I was paying them to build my website. Of course there are probably a lot more you can think of!

- What style or kind of website will you get?

- Do you get a choice of themes/colours?

- How many pages within your site will they do for you?

- Will they include your logos and other images you require on your website?

- Will they enter any content you require?

- Will you be shown how to add or modify content without having to contact the web developer to do it every time?

- How long will it take for your website to be ready?

- How much technical support will you receive from the web developer?

- What will they charge for site modifications?

That of course is just a start because as I said before, there are a lot more you can think of, but remember to compare so you know what you are getting for your money.

Also, make sure you’re getting what you actually need! It’s all well and good to pay for extra services, but do you actually need them ?
